The Voters Kit List

The UK general election is set for Thursday 4th July - that’s very soon! Get your pen ready and use our kit list to make sure you’re eligible to vote and prepared to SEND IT for climate on polling day.

You must be on the electoral register to vote in any UK election. You can register online, by post, or by contacting your local electoral registration office. You must register to vote at least 12 working days before the election (18th June).

If you split your time between two addresses, such as being a student living away from home, you may be eligible to register to vote at both addresses, provided they are in different council areas. However, you are only allowed to vote at one address in UK Parliament elections, and you can choose which area to vote in. It is illegal to vote more than once in the same election.

You need an ID to vote in the general election. Take a driving licence, passport, or other government-issued ID. You can also apply for a voter ID card.

You must be a citizen of the UK, Ireland, or a Commonwealth country to vote in UK general elections.

You must be 18 years old or over on the day of the election.

Certain people are disqualified from voting, including those found guilty of certain electoral offences or people detained in a penal institution while serving their sentence.
