Reflecting on 2024

9th January 2025

As we kick off 2025, let’s take a moment to reflect on the epic journey of 2024. It was a year packed with adventure, action, and major wins for our planet. Whether you were climbing peaks, carving fresh tracks, or just soaking in the great outdoors, your passion helped fuel an incredible year of climate action.

2024: A Year of Big Moves and Bold Actions

Making Waves at Major Events

Events are a huge part of what we do, giving us the chance to connect with our community and meet them where they’re at. We show up at a ton of events every year, but this year was especially airy.
Sport Positive Summit
An epic standout moment was delivering a powerful speech on a UNFCCC panel at the Sport Positive Summit, rallying global sports leaders to take climate action seriously - a real pinch ourselves moment!
London Snow Show
We also planted our flag at the London Snow Show last year with our first full stand, and it was nothing short of amazing. We collected hundreds of climate action pledges and connected with fellow outdoor enthusiasts through hands-on activities. It was clear that the outdoor community is ready to step up for the planet.
Kendal Mountain Festival
The Kendal Mountain Festival was another highlight of 2024 (as it is every year!) From hosting a busy stand to being featured on stages, we had a chance to engage with our community where they stand.

Crushing It with Send It For Climate

With the General Election on the horizon, our Send It For Climate campaign took centre stage, rallying outdoor lovers to make their voices heard.
We kicked off the campaign by collecting over 2,300 postcards—most of them physical, because nothing beats the impact of a tangible message. These postcards were distributed in hotspots like Patagonia and Ellis Brigham stores, and even packed into our merch shipments. At the Kendal Mountain Festival, we made sure every seat during Snow Night had a postcard, accompanied by an inspiring video from Ed Leigh urging action.

Taking It to 10 Downing Street

To ensure our message hit home, we delivered the postcards straight to 10 Downing Street, with the help of our ambassador and ski Olympian Chemmy Alcott. It was a powerful moment that showed our community’s commitment to driving real change - a huge milestone for Team POW!

Key Wins and What’s Next

Thanks to our collective effort, the new government committed to several key climate goals, including expanding renewable energy and halting new domestic oil and gas licenses. These are critical steps towards protecting the outdoor spaces we all love.

Looking Ahead: 2025 Goals

As we gear up for another year of adventure and action, here’s what we’re aiming for in 2025:
  • Deeper Community Engagement: We want to connect even more with our outdoor community through events, workshops, and climate action.
  • Expand Educational Outreach: We’re ramping up our educational programs to reach more outdoor enthusiasts, giving everyone the tools to be a climate advocate.
  • Stronger Advocacy: We’ll keep pushing for policies that protect our planet, ensuring that climate action stays at the forefront.
We’ve hit the ground running by responding to a government consultation helping finalise the end of domestic fossil fuel extraction. The next step is for governments worldwide to make this transition a reality with a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, and we'll be focusing our efforts on making this happen in the year ahead. So stay tuned, because we need you with us, and we're stoked to take on another summit with you.

Thank You for Your Support

As we look back on 2024 and ahead to 2025, we’re filled with gratitude for this incredible community - Team POW! Together, we’ve achieved so much, and with your continued support, the future looks even brighter. Let’s keep the stoke high, set bold goals, and work together to protect the wild places we love.
Here’s to another year of action, adventure, and making a real impact!
