Earn Your Turns - A Charity Beer Collaboration

Electric Bear has a proud tradition of brewing with purpose. Each year they create a charity collaboration beer donating 30p from every can or pint to a chosen cause.

Earlier this year, Charlie, a Protect Our Winters UK (POW UK) university representative at the University of Bath Snowsports Society, proposed an idea that would bring the brewery’s sustainability ethos to life, a beer brewed in support of POW UK.

The brewery was immediately on board. Together, they developed a sessionable Pale Ale, designed to be both refreshing and impactful. The partnership was finalised and a new beer was born: “Earn Your Turns.” This name came from ski touring, the idea that when you skip the lift and ski up you’ve most definitely earnt your turns.

The beer launched in early November at a launch event in Bath and was a vibrant celebration of community, sustainability and great beer. Dom Winter from Protect Our Winters UK was there to share information about our Clean Miles campaign whilst attendees enjoyed the new Pale Ale and taking part in a giveaway for SunGod goggles and sunglasses, generously provided by POW UK’s partner brand, SunGod.

POW stickers were handed out with every pint, and the buzz around the new beer made for a sold-out night, a perfect start to a meaningful partnership.

In true collaborative spirit, Charlie joined the brewing team in September to take part in the process from digging out the mash tun to capturing behind-the-scenes photos of the brew day.

The beer celebrates outdoor adventure and sustainable living. Electric Bear's designer, Conor Prior, created the artwork, featuring dynamic imagery inspired by mountains, cycling, and travel by train and foot, a nod to the shared values of adventure and responsibility.

This collaboration aligns perfectly with POW UK’s Clean Miles campaign, which encourages lower-carbon travel to outdoor adventures.

Electric Bear’s ethos and location make it a natural partner: Situated right on Bristol and Bath railway cycle path and close to a train station, the brewery encourages visitors to arrive by bike, foot, or public transport.

The venue acts as a social hub for Bath’s board sports scene, university snow sports clubs, and local running groups, all united by a shared passion for the outdoors.

Together, Electric Bear and POW UK are raising awareness, one pint at a time, about how small, mindful choices can make a big environmental difference.
