5 Ways To Take Action During COP26

1st November 2021

COP26 is almost upon us and is said to be the most important COP since Paris in 2015. The decisions made in Glasgow will shape how governments respond to the climate crisis - or fail to - and they may make or break the future of our planet.
We need to show up.
But, as an individual, who hasn't been invited as a delegate or an observer, how can you show up for COP26? How can you get involved if you can't make it to Glasgow? And what actions can you take to put pressure on the leaders who will be negotiating on all of our behalfs?
We're here to tell you how! Here's five ways that you can get involved in COP26.

1. Join us on the ground in Glasgow

On Saturday the 6th of November, we'll be joining other movements in Glasgow and mobilising the outdoors community for the Global Day of Action for Climate Justice.
If you want to play you need to protect, so it’s super important that the outdoor community shows up and lets world leaders know that delaying action isn’t an option. We’re trying to mobilise the biggest crowd of outdoor people for climate action in the UK ever. Join us!

2. Can't make Glasgow? Show solidarity from afar!

No matter where you are, you can tag us in your photographs in the outdoors using the hashtag #OutdoorsForAction on the 6th of November. Whether you're up a hill, on a loch, or at your local crag, take a sign and show up for The Glocal Day of Action for Climate Justice.
If you want to join an action, but Glasgow is just a little too far for you to travel, you can also find a local hub or action closer to you on the COP26 Coalition website.

3. Ask your local council to #DivestTheDirt

Our biggest campaign needs your support, and what better time to put pressure on our leaders than during COP26?
75% of Local UK councils have declared a climate emergency while they continue to fund it. Collectively, they hold investments of nearly £10 billion in sketchy fossil fuels through their pension funds.

4. Spread the word!

Already taken this action? Thank you! Now spread the word and amplify our call to action. Ask your friends, family, colleagues, and climbing partners to take the action too. The more people who get behind it, the harder it is for leaders to ignore. Every completion helps!
Check out our social media toolkit to spread the word online.

5. Donate

Nothing we do is possible without generous support from people like you. And that includes showing up at COP. We invest the majority of our funds into activism and programmes to fight the climate crisis.
Donate and find out more about how we use your donations.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and a bigger thank you if you’ve taken action. You’re rad! If you need to know more about COP26, The Guardian has created an excellent complete guide to COP.
